This week, we highlight the value of good character and its essential role in building strong communities that value positive, healthy relationships and respectful behavior. We celebrate young people who are role models of good character in their communities and support the parents and educators who teach our young people to be trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring, and good citizens.

Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and its impact inside and outside the classroom. GCS students are invited to eat school meals free of charge through our participation in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP).

SCHOOL SECURITY UPDATE
Local law enforcement has been notified of threats directed towards high schools in the county. A Homeland Security investigation suggests that these threats may be part of a larger trend affecting schools across West Virginia and other states. At this time, we have no reason to believe that these threats are credible. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be increasing security measures in our schools over the next few days.
